Job Duties

Richard Bland College (RBC) is a two-year, residential, liberal arts transfer institution that focuses on preparing students for transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. The College is a hidden gem located outside the Tri-Cities region—and its rural setting featuring 750 acres of wetlands, bucolic forest, and the state’s oldest and largest pecan grove.
Richard Bland College seeks to hire an Accounts Payable Specialist. This position will provide support to the Finance department and will report to the Accounts Payable Manager. The position performs accounts payable related tasks and will be responsible for processing agency and Foundation check requests and other accounts payable tasks.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Accounting Payable functions will be very detail driven, diverse in scope, and responsibilities may include:
 Ensure accurate processing of vendor invoices, while verifying and collecting proper documentation and correctly calculating due dates to be in compliance with Prompt Pay Act.
 Verify and attach correct related invoice/voucher, purchase order receiving report, or authorized signature and create complete voucher package.
 Verify invoice/voucher accounting codes for accurate entry of invoices and vouchers into both Banner and Cardinal.
 Process agencies Local check requests, ensuring required documentation and signature are attached.
 Process foundation check requests, ensuring required documentation and signatures are attached.
 Manage the accurate check printing process for all RBC bank accounts in banner.
 Save voucher packets to banner BDM, FinServ folder and file accordingly in designated area.
 Ensuring compliance with CAPP Manual, GAAP institutional policies and other applicable laws or regulations.
 Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

 Working knowledge of Accounting and Accounts Payable
 Working knowledge of auditing expenditures and analyzing contracted purchase orders to ensure accuracy of invoice processing.
 Ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, develop, and communicate options and draw valid conclusions.
 Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work assignments within established time frames.
 Demonstrated significant accounts payable experience.
 Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Excel.
 Effective customer service and communication skills bother verbally and in writing.
 Extreme attention to detail.
 Three years of accounting experience, preferable in State or Local Government
 Two years of accounts payable, experience in processing vendor payments, preferable in State or Local Government

 Graduation from a college or university with studies in business and/or accounting or equivalent combination of training and work experience
 Higher Education experience
 Experience with Banner Finance
 Experience with Cardinal
 Experience with QuickBooks
